The world has changed, though by how much isn’t fully known yet. The legacy of Covid-19 on the way we work and live will only become clear once we’ve moved beyond the grip of the pandemic.  However, one thing is certain, constant and crystal - businesses that innovate will do better than those that don’t.

For any person or firm, change can be daunting. It can take guts to properly examine what you do, decide to do it better, and then act on it.  You also need leadership.  To help SMEs, InterTradeIreland has developed a series of webinar masterclasses for people who understand they need to drive their business forward but have no idea where to start.

The latest results from InterTradeIreland’s Business Monitor (Q3 2020) make for stark if unsurprising reading. It quantifies and puts into perspective the massive disruption and strain caused by Covid-19 across the island, and the impact this has had on Brexit preparations. Prior to the pandemic, 47 per cent of firms say they were in growth mode; this has now dropped to 21 per cent. The number of businesses across the island that are in decline has jumped from 10 per cent and now stands at 48 per cent. Only 18 per cent of firms have made preparations for Brexit.

Four companies are €20,000 richer following their wins in the Connacht & Leinster and Munster Seedcorn regional finals.  The winners of the NI and Dublin regional finals will be announced shortly.  The eight regional winners will go on to compete in the all-island final on 2nd December where the overall ‘Best New Start’ & ‘Best Early Stage’ companies will be announced winning €50,000 each, and ultimately the ‘Overall Winner’ who will pocket €100,000. The awards will be held online for the first time in Seedcorn history. Best of luck to all our finalists!
