Early Stage Category - Skellig Surgical - medical device company from Cork that has developed a novel disposable retractor for minimally-invasive surgery

Early Stage Category - Ovvo, Dundalk who have developed a 'Connection System' that will eliminate hours of frustration that comes with flat pack assembly

The all-island final will take place at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on the 23rd November, where the regional winners will go head-to-head for the title of the Best Category Company prize worth €50,000, and ultimately the Overall Winner title, worth €100,000.  We wish them the very best!

Missed our Meet the Buyer event in Cork?
 

InterTradeIreland's latest Meet the Buyer event took place on the 19th October In Cork and attracted over 250 delegates and 90 Buyers from across the Island. 

If you were unable to attend this event, you missed out on a valuable opportunity to get in front of some of the key public sector buyers in Ireland and Northern Ireland. 

However, don't despair, we have uploaded the presentations from the event to our website which contains useful information about tendering in terms of lots, frameworks and the reformed procurement model in Ireland amongst other subjects.

Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 2 Rural Renaissance Event- presentations now available!
 
This interactive event took an indepth look at the Rural Renaissance calls, providing delegates with the opportunity to hear expert insights on everything from policy matters to personal experiences of participating in Horizon 2020. 

The keynote speaker was Professor Richard Wakeford, from Birmingham City University and Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 2 Advisory Group Chairperson, who spoke about sustainable rural development and how research can be truly useful in shaping rural futures. 

Delegates also heard from Miroslav Bozic, DG Agriculture and Rural Development, Noel Gavigan from IBEC AGRI-FOR-VALOR,  David Meredith, Teagasc, Grainne Millar, GM Innovations and Stephen Rice, Upskill Enterprises.

Wicklow Wolf Brewing Company -
 

HBAN (Halo Business Angel Network), the all-island organisation responsible for the promotion of business angel investment and a joint initiative of InterTradeIreland and Enterprise Ireland, recently announced a €2 million investment in craft beer company, Wicklow Wolf. HBAN’s Food Syndicate is one of the leading stakeholders in the deal. 

Wicklow Wolf’s owners will use the investment to open a new, larger brewing site in Wicklow, which will enable a 15-fold boost in production capacity. This will support Wicklow Wolf’s plans to expand domestically and into international markets including the US, Asia and Europe. As it grows over the next five years, Wicklow Wolf will increase its staff base by 20.

BUT WHO ARE WICKLOW WOLF?

Founded by Quincey Fennelly and Simon Lynch through a mutual appreciation of good beer, the company started brewing in August 2014 and sold its first beer one month later to The Harbour Bar in Bray, Co. Wicklow. The business now supplies to 150 pubs and 550 off-licenses across the island of Ireland.

As you can imagine, each month after I send the ezine out I am bombarded with out of office messages- some lucky enough to be on holidays, some on maternity and the others who knows what they are at!.

And I find myself trawling through them hoping to find a funny or different message other than ' I will be back in the office on... or I have limited access to my emails...etc So when I came across this article I just had to share!

Needless to say I am looking forward to reviewing the out of office messages next month !!!
