Full house at Brexit Belfast Event

Titanic, Belfast

Our Brexit event held last month in Titanic Belfast was very successful with over 350 attendees.  For attendees the event provided practical advice from an expert panel, including Dr Vincent Power, A&L Goodbody, and Johnny Hanna, KPMG.

Delegates also had a choice of workshops to attend where they could get practical advice and guidance on such things as rules of origin, Tax, Customs and VAT. This was the first of our flagship events to help businesses navigate Brexit. Next is Dublin on the 5th December. If you need help with Brexit - why not contact our Brexit Advisory Service.

Buoyant economy with cross-border traders surging ahead- latest Monitor reveals

Aidan Gough, Strategy & Policy Director

The latest quarterly (July - September 2017) InterTradeIreland Business Monitor Report paints a picture of a buoyant economy with 39 percent of businesses in growth mode and a further 57 per cent in a stable position.  96 per cent of businesses across the island are stable or growing.

Aidan Gough, Startegy & Policy Director at InterTradeIreland comments that companies trading cross-border are faring particularly well, with 50 percent enjoying growth.  Growth is not however translating into a similar upsurge in employment with only 7 percent of companies reporting that employment levels have increased over the past quarter.

Regional Winners of Seedcorn Competition 2017 announced

Now in its 15th year, Seedcorn is the island’s biggest business competition for new start and early stage companies in any sector, from any part of the island.

Our 8 Regional Winners fought off tough competition to win a prize of €20,000 each to help finance the early stages of their ventures.  In addition, Gray’s Clip based in Lisburn won a special award of €10,000 for the Best Company who attended a support platform programme.

The winning companies from each of the four regional finals will now go on to compete in the all-island final of the competition, which will take place on Wednesday 22rd November at the Crowne Plaza Northwood, Co. Dublin.  The entrepreneurs will then compete for the overall Best New Start prize worth €50,000 or the overall Best Early Stage prize worth €50,000, and ultimately the Overall Winner title, worth €100,000.

We wish all of them the very best of luck!
